The AxioImager D1M Research Microscope allows for visual characterization and digital documentation of materials at high magnification using reflectance or transmittance, with polarization, differential interference contrast, and fluorescence techniques.
Applications:
- identification and characterization of inks, pigments, and paper fibers
- imaging at high magnification under various illumination conditions to observe defects and other anomalies in digital optical media (e.g. CD-Rs, DVDs)
- observation of the behaviour of polymers on a heated stage, as temperature is raised to the melting point
