Arts and Humanities
The Library of Congress is multidisciplinary in its approach to the arts and humanities, and collects broadly and extensively in these areas to support Congress and the nation’s educators, researchers, and students. The Library strives to collect in all publishing formats, including microform, electronic and machine readable material.
Subjects include: aesthetics, art, architecture, classical studies, decorative arts, ethics, etiquette, classical mythology, folklore, dance, music, fine arts, Latin and ancient Greek, linguistics, manners and customs, medieval and renaissance studies, modern thought and culture, literature and philosophy of literature. Arts and humanities subject liaison librarians develop collections in close cooperation with other areas of the Library to ensure collaboration and to reduce duplication.
