The 24th annual Institute on Federal Library Resources, sponsored by the School of Library and Information Science, Catholic University of America, will be held in Washington July 20-31.
Frank Kurt Cylke, the academic director, announced that the curriculum will:
- identify the role of the federal libraries, information centers and data banks in the federal library community;
- discuss the implication of the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science's posture as related to federal libraries;
- identify resources, publications and specialized services provided by federal libraries;
- identify resources available through major government clearinghouses, such as the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) and the Defense Technical Information Center;
- compare the operations and developments of the major federal library and information services; and
- identify and articulate the functions performed by the Federal Library and Information Center Committee.
Twenty-eight directors of federal information programs and several membership association representatives will address participants.
