Introduction
The goal of preservation reformatting at the Library of Congress is to preserve the Library's collections and offer broad public access to at-risk materials. Digital reformatting is but one facet of an integrated preservation strategy for collection materials and is developed in partnership with Library curators and recommending officers, custodial divisions, and other Preservation Directorate staff.
The digitizing component of the preservation reformatting program has three parts:
- Selection criteria
- Digital reformatting principles and specifications, including phased delivery, and
- Life-cycle management of Library of Congress digital data
Other areas of concern include Copyright Issues and Privacy and Publicity issues
- Project list - includes Garden and Forest, Johannes De Musica, Spalding Sports & Athletic Guides, and more.
