Jazz saxophone legend Dexter Gordon is the subject of a new autobiography/biography, "Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon" (University of California Press, 2018). Maxine Gordon finished and compiled the work, and will speak about the book as an introduction to a screening of "‘Round Midnight." Now a classic, the film earned Dexter Gordon both a Grammy for the soundtrack and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
