Supervisor Development Program
Who must complete the Supervisor Development Program (SDP)? All Library supervisors.
Supervisors must complete online and instructor-led human resources training as listed to the left.
Supervisors continue their development using the Supervisor Development and Training Guide.
Service units select supervisors for the ten leadership workshops each fiscal year.
Initial priority for selection is new supervisors with 12 to 18 months in their supervisory position.
What is the SDP?
The SDP is a competency-based development program designed to support new and experienced supervisors in establishing, enhancing, and expanding proficiencies that promote an engaged, productive and innovative workforce through supervisory leadership.
What does SDP completion look like?
To satisfy the SDP training requirement, a supervisor:
- Completes all the required items in the Supervisor Development and Training Guide.
- Attends HRS-sponsored leadership workshops.
Supervisors having previously completed the training or an equivalency need not retake that training.
Leadership Workshop descriptions with competencies describe what benefits supervisors will receive by attending leadership workshops under SDP.
