New Employee Orientation Program
New Employee Orientation (NEO) provides an introduction to the Library of Congress for new employees on their first day. It is the initial step of what will become a continuous learning experience.

Career Development Program
The Career Development Program (CDP) is designed to enhance employees' professional
development, leadership skills, knowledge of the Library’s service units, and knowledge of major
programs and initiatives. Library of Congress permanent and indefinite staff in grades GS-2 through
GS-9 and WG-2 through WG-9 are encouraged to apply.

Leadership Development Program
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is 12-month competency–based training program
for high potential employees from diverse backgrounds who are interested in broadening their
knowledge and developing the skills that are the foundation of effective leadership. Participants engage in classroom trainings and experiential learning, are provided with mentors and are provided tours and orientations of Library service units, with the goal of improving their current performance and enhancing their leadership skills while preparing them to serve in future leadership roles.
