Symphony no. 3 in E-flat major, op. 55
Symphony no. 7 in A major, op. 92
Lauded for virtuosic musicality as much as technical precision, the United States Marine Band kicks off the symphonic portion of our Beethoven @250 celebration, presenting Beethoven’s symphonies in unique and rarely-heard arrangements for chamber ensemble. Never has Beethoven’s monumental “Eroica” sounded so intimate and colorful as in this performance by flute and piano trio. A transcription for wind nonet of Symphony no. 7 reveals new depths in the work’s inherent lyricism and playfulness.
