Finding Aid to the Leonard Bernstein Collection

The Finding Aid for the Leonard Bernstein Collection includes descriptions of those materials for which processing has been completed. These include correspondence, writings, photographs, datebooks, schedules, address books, iconography, and programs. It is anticipated that updates to the Finding Aid will be made as the processing of additional series is completed. The music in the collection (both printed and manuscript) will be the final series to be processed. It should also be noted that all audio and video materials are being processed by the Library's Motion Pictures, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division and this information does not appear in the Finding Aid. Much of the information used in describing and identifying materials in the collection was derived from annotations on the items themselves — including names, dates and information on publications, broadcasts and concerts.

The online version of the Finding Aid uses the Encoded Archival Description (EAD). (For information see the EAD Finding Aids at the Library of Congress.)

The Finding Aid provides links to digital images of selected photographs.
