CSM F 210 sec. 3 says, “Establish a class number for periodicals only as part of a proposal for a major new development for a topic on which many periodicals are likely to be published. … do not establish a new periodicals number if there are periodicals on the topic already classed in the number for general work.” The proposal was not approved.

This proposal is for the national defense university of Indonesia, which should be classed in U660.A-Z. The proposal was not approved

Announcement:
On list 2111b, the subject heading Aliens was changed to Noncitizens, and the heading Illegal aliens was split into: Illegal immigration and Noncitizens. At the same time, all related derivative terms, scope notes and instructions, and subdivisions were updated with the new terminology.
Other decisions:
Afro-pessimism
On list 2006, the meeting decided to not authorize terms for emotions or personality traits that were ascribed to a particular race or ethnic group. The Summary for that list stated:
LCSH does not include any headings that ascribe an emotion or personality trait to a specific ethnic group or race, and the meeting does not want to begin the practice. Instead, headings such as Anger; Defensiveness (Psychology); Fragility (Psychology); Race awareness; Resentment; Whites—Attitudes; and Whites—Psychology may be assigned to the work being cataloged. The proposal was not approved.
It seems that the current proposal also ascribes an emotion or personality trait to a race or ethnic group. Headings such as Race awareness, Blacks—Attitudes, Blacks—Psychology, and Pessimism may be assigned instead.
The meeting asked whether this proposed term represented an emergent philosophical concept or an emotion. The cataloger will do additional research and will resubmit the proposal if necessary.
N.b.: Proposals to change the current heading Blacks to Black people and the current heading Whites to White people will be considered on list 2112a (December 2021).
Aḥmar (Arab people)
The classification number in the record must be proposed. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Bible stories, Mongolian
The cataloger needs to provide a summary in English of the work being cataloged and make a proposal for the classification number. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Blagoveshchenskiĭ most (Saint Petersburg, Russia)
The citation to the work being cataloged does not provide any information in English to support the BT or the qualifier on the heading. Specifically, the citation should state in English that this is a bridge located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Ch'ŏndogyo in literature
Ch'ŏndogyo is established as a corporate body. The heading Ch'ŏndogyo—In literature, which is a free-floating construction, should be assigned. The proposal was not necessary.
Cold Cathode Gauge Experiment
The official list of experiments on NASA’s web site gives the name of this experiment as the Cold Cathode Gage Experiment, which is also proposed on this list. The proposal for Cold Cathode Gauge Experiment was not approved.
Eighteen sixties
H 620 sec. 2.c, General headings for centuries, years, and other periods, says [in part] “Assign these headings only to general works on the time period not limited to specific topics.” The work being cataloged is about the American Civil War. The proposal was not necessary.
Falak (The Persian word) in literature
The work is on the use of the word falak in poetry, not how falak is portrayed in poetry. The headings Persian poetry—History and criticism and Falak (The Persian word) should be assigned. The proposal was not necessary.
Folk drama, Mongolian
The cataloger should provide a brief description of the work in English in the 670 citation. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Guadalupe, Our Lady of, in literature
The cataloger should provide a brief summary of the topic of the work in English in the 670 citation. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Incarceration camps
In deciding in April to cancel Concentration camps in favor of Internment camps and Nazi concentration camps, the meeting was aware that the solution to use Internment camps instead of some other language was not going to be universally popular. However, there was agreement that it is non-loaded language and is better than continuing to use Concentration camps for the camps in which Japanese, Germans, etc., were held in the Americas during the world wars, because the phrase concentration camp is so strongly associated with Nazi Germany.
The heading Internment camps is used for a wide variety of circumstances, including camps in East Germany after World War II, Soviet camps in Siberia, and so on. There are legal distinctions between internment and imprisonment, but the meeting believes that it would not be useful to authorize two headings, as is proposed here. If there were two headings, the heading assigned in cataloging would depend on the language used in the work, or on the opinion of the cataloger. Either that, or catalogers would have to consult the legal definitions of incarceration and internment to try to decide which concept is being discussed in the works being cataloged. In that case, similar works would be separated instead of collocated.
H 373 sec. 5 says: “Occasionally it is appropriate to make UF references from other than strictly synonymous terms or phrases in order to inform the catalog user that a particular concept is entered under another, usually broader, heading. … Make references of this type only when it is clearly impractical to establish specific headings for the separate concepts.”
The proposal was not approved, and Incarceration camps was added as a UF to Internment camps.
Kami (South Asian people)
The master record for the Kami people says that they are in Bhutan, India, and Nepal. The work being cataloged uses the word Vishwakarma, which matches one of the UFs. Joshua Project says that Vishwakarma is an alternate name for Kami, who are “untouchable” metal workers – the group represented by the master record – but there is also a separate entry for Vishwakarma, which the cataloger cited. It says that the Vishwakarma are Brahmins and live in India and Sri Lanka. Is the group discussed in the book the Kami (the “untouchable” metal workers from Bhutan, India, and Nepal)? Or are they Vishwa Brahmins from India and Sri Lanka? There is not enough information in the citation for the work being cataloged to know. The cataloger should provide information to clarify the situation. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Metini Village Site (Calif.)
This village should be established in the NAF per SHM H 715, sec. 1. It is clear from the work cat (available in electronic form at https://escholarship.org/uc/item/2zn2c26r ) that the village existed in the 19th century. The proposal was not approved.
Monte San Mauro Site (Italy)
It seems from the information provided that Monte San Mauro is an extinct city. It should be proposed and established according to H 715. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Names, Vietnamese
The cataloger did not provide any information in English that describes the content of the work. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Oathmark (Game)
In the Summary of Decisions for list 2106 (June 21, 2021), it was announced that headings for individual games should be established in the NAF. The proposal was not approved.
Paleoentomologists
Per a decision announced in the Summary of Decisions for List 2007, "The hierarchy under Zoologists will be maintained as a flat hierarchy, i.e., specialized zoologists will be narrower terms under Zoologists, not under the intermediate specialty." The proposal was not approved.
Parque Mayer (Lisbon, Portugal)
The way this is described, it appears to be a city section, and it is identified by the BT as a park district. The heading should be established in the name authority file (per H 405). The proposal was not approved.
Prostate--Massage
The subdivision --Massage may be assigned on a free-floating basis under organs and regions of the body. The proposal was not necessary.
Sinch'ŏnji
This is a cult or denomination that should be established in the NAF (per H 405). The proposal was not approved.
Surabaya bombings, Surabaya, Indonesia, 2018
This proposal was marked resubmit on list 2107, and the proposal still does not include evidence that “Surabaya bombings” is anything more than a general appellation. The heading Bombings—Indonesia—Surabaya should be assigned. The proposal was not approved.
GENRE/FORM TERMS
Children’s informational works
Children are the intended audience, so this proposal is out of scope for LCGFT. The few terms for children’s materials that appear in LCGFT were approved in the first three projects, before LCDGT was created. The introduction to LCGFT states that those terms (e.g., Children’s films) should not be taken as precedent. The proposal was not approved.
Informational picture books
This concept is covered by the terms Informational works and Picture books. The proposal was not approved.
