The proposed class number was to add the class of persons Psychic trauma patients to the list for Church work with special classes. The term Mongolians is both a nationality and an ethnicity. If Mongolians as a nationality is meant, then the cataloger should consider making a subject proposal to establish it as a separate heading and resubmit this class proposal. If the work is about Mongols as an ethnicity, the caption in the proposal should be adjusted to match the subject heading and resubmitted.

The proposed change was to add an including note for soul in literature to the number for Body and soul in literature. The subject heading Body and soul in literature has a scope note with a very specific definition in medieval literature. The cataloger should evaluate the work being cataloged to decide if it meets the definition of Body and soul in literature in the medieval context or if the headings Human body in literature and Soul in literature are to be preferred. Either of these two headings would require a proposal in PN862. The proposal may be resubmitted.
PQ9261.N27
The proposed number placed Cabral do Nascimento in the number for literary authors. However, the subject headings indicate that he is a translator, not an author. The appropriate number for biographies of translators is P306.92.A-Z. The proposal was not approved.
SUBJECT HEADINGS
Buddhist hymns, Indonesian
SHM H 202 sec. 1.a(6) states that information that supports the heading should be quoted or paraphrased in English, yet no English was provided, only text in Indonesian. The proposal may be resubmitted with information in English that explains the relationship of the proposal to the work being cataloged.
Labor Day (Philippines)
Labor Day, or International Workers Day, is an international holiday celebrated on May 1st in many countries, not just the Philippines. For works about this holiday, the heading May Day (Labor holiday) is established and may be subdivided geographically to bring out location. The proposal was not approved.
Smallfin gulper shark
The proposal attempted to change the heading Centrophorus armatus to the common name Smallfin gulper shark. The species Centrophorus armatus has a shared synonym, Atractophorus armatus, with the species Centrophorus moluccensis, also known as the smallfin gulper shark, but the two species are distinct. The heading for Centrophorus moluccensis, which needs to be proposed separately, should be assigned to the work being cataloged. The Latin name should be preferred for this species, as it has several common names, and the Latin name removes ambiguity, as specified in H 1332 sec. 2.a. The proposal was not approved.
Drone aircraft and motion pictures
The instruction sheet H 310 states that [Topic A] and [Topic B] headings are established “only when the work being cataloged discusses the relationship between the topics from both perspectives and in such broad terms that it could not accurately be described by the use of a main heading and subdivision.” The work being cataloged is about the use of cinematic techniques to impact the watcher, which the author calls droning, and does not address the influence of motion pictures on drone aircraft or vice versa. Subject headings such as Action and adventure films--Psychological aspects; Sensory stimulation; and/or Motion pictures—Production and direction may be assigned instead. The proposal was not approved.
El Pital River (Nicaragua); El Pital River Watershed (Nicaragua)
The Geonet citation does not mention the existence of a second Río El Pital in a neighboring department. Research should be done to decide if this is a different river of the same name or not, and then decide how to appropriately qualify the heading according to H 800. Further, the instructions for formulation of the heading for a river in H 690 sec. 6 should be reviewed. The proposal may be resubmitted.
El Pital River Watershed (Nicaragua)
A watershed proposal is based upon the heading for the river and should be adjusted once the heading for the river has been established. Also, the cross-references should be evaluated based upon usage for the watershed, not upon variants from the name of the river. The proposal may be resubmitted with the proposal for the river.
Financial analysts
The work being cataloged discusses the work of financial analysis within a Swiss bank and is not about financial analysts as a class of persons. The portion of this work that examines the subject is adequately covered by the heading Financial services industry–Employees. The proposal was not necessary.
Genocide denial
A heading for a concept in LCSH includes both the positive and negative aspects of that topic. A work about the denial of genocide still discusses the concept of Genocide. To avoid the confusion that would be caused by adding headings that express the opposite meaning of existing headings, the meeting has added the new subject heading Denialism. To bring out the denialism aspect of events or topics, the heading may be post-coordinated with headings for the events or topics.
The existing subject headings Holocaust denial and Holodomor denial, which are related to specific events, were added by exception as narrower terms of the new heading Denialism. Additional narrower terms will not be added to Denialism. Post-coordination is recommended.

Joshua Project was cited, but the citation did not include any of the variant names found there. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Government aid to regional planning
The relationship between the subject and the work being cataloged does not justify the proposed heading. Regional planning is, by nature, a function of government, as indicated by the cross-references to the existing subject heading. The subject heading Regional planning—Finance will adequately address the topic of government aid in regional planning. The proposal was not approved.
Haiku, Macedonian
SHM H 202 Background states that information that indicates the relationship of the work being cataloged to the heading should be provided. The translated title supports the use of haiku, but there is no mention of the language of the text. The proposal may be resubmitted with information in English that specifies the language being used.
Haiyang Shiyou 981 Standoff, South China Sea, 2014
SHM 202 Background requires that the work being cataloged should demonstrate a relationship with the proposed heading. The terminology used does not justify the establishment of a single named event, as it is part of an ongoing dispute over territory, which occurred again in 2015 and 2016. The cataloger should establish the name of the oil rig in the name authority file and post-coordinate with the appropriate subject headings, such as Vietnam—Foreign relations—China; Vietnam—Boundaries—China; and the necessary reciprocals. The proposal was not approved.
Human territoriality in literature
The subject heading Human territoriality relates to the relationship of a human being to his or her immediate environment. The work being cataloged is about the wider relationship of humans to the land from which they come, as reflected in their poetry. The proposed heading therefore does not reflect the subject of the work being cataloged. The proposal was not necessary.
Industrieviertel (Austria)
The meeting found information that Industrieviertel is quasi-jurisdictional in the present day, and may have been a historical jurisdiction. There is also evidence of a corporate body structure, such as a board of directors. The cataloger should do research to find out whether it is a corporate body or a type of jurisdiction. As such, it should be established in the name authority file under the provisions in SHM H 405. The proposal was not approved.
Korea (South)—Social life and customs—1960-1988
SHM 2057 sec. 2 states that new chronological subdivisions under [place]—Social life and customs should be established for “significant periods, usually covering forty years or more… when there is sufficient material to warrant it.” The period proposed is for only 22 years, and the number of records in the catalog is small and would not benefit from further subdivision. The proposal was not necessary.
Monasticism and religious orders—Law and legislation
SHM H 202 sec. 1.a(6) states that information that supports the heading should be quoted or paraphrased in English, yet no English was provided, only a French title. The proposal may be resubmitted with information in English that explains the relationship of the proposal to the work being cataloged.
Montenegrin drama; Montenegrin fiction; Montenegrin wit and humor; Short stories, Montenegrin
The four proposals attempted to add the cross-reference Serbian [literature]—Montenegro. LCSH does not make cross-references for literature defined by language and subdivided by place, so the proposed change was not appropriate. The proposals were not approved.
Open Source Alexandrian (Wiccan sect)
SHM H 202 Background states that information that indicates the relationship of the work being cataloged to the heading should be provided. The citation for the work being cataloged does not name the sect, nor does it include any information to explain the relationship. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Oske Artsiv (Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan)
The proposal originally appeared on List 3 (2017) without any support for the heading or the broader term in English (SHM H 202 sec. 1.a(6)). A title in English has been added, but that is insufficient to explain the relationship of the proposed heading, the cross-reference, or its broader term to the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted with information in English that fully explains this relationship.
Palazzo Riva di Santa Margherita (Lugano, Switzerland)
The proposal includes a cross-reference that correctly differentiates a variant name with the name of a street in the qualifier. However, the name of the street must be established in LCSH before it can be so used. Also, the instruction sheet H 1334 sec. 4 should be reviewed in order to provide all the relevant cross-references. The proposal may be resubmitted with an accompanying proposal for the street.
Picture dictionaries, Serbian; Picture dictionaries, Serbo-Croatian
The comments for this proposal on List 7 (2017) indicated that only a title in Serbian had been provided, contrary to the instructions in SHM H 202 sec. 1.a(6). While the title in English has now been added, the information provided from the work being cataloged is not sufficient. The citation should fully explain the relationship between all elements of the heading and the work in English. The related term in the proposal for Picture dictionaries, Serbo-Croatian should be similarly justified. The proposals may be resubmitted.
Reportage literature, Russian
The citation from the work being cataloged shows that this is a collection of journalists reporting from places of military conflict. This does not meet the definition of Reportage literature, as described in its scope note. The subject heading [topic]—Press coverage can be used to describe news reports with a topical focus. Septuagenarians
The citation of the work being cataloged does not indicate that there is a discussion of septuagenarians as a class of persons, nor that the age of the character is a plot point that should be brought out through the subject headings. The proposal was not necessary.

SHM H 202 Background states that information that indicates the relationship of the work being cataloged to the heading should be provided. This proposal attempted to add a cross-reference based upon a variant name found only in Wikipedia. The cross-reference was of marginal utility, based upon a source that is not considered authoritative. The proposal was not necessary
Tongjun Mountain (China)
The citations in the proposal had possibly conflicting information, and one of them cited a tourist attraction, whose connection to the mountain was not apparent. SHM H 202 Background states that information that clearly supports the choice of terminology, the cross-references, and the broader terms should be included in the citations. Unrestricted warfare
The work being cataloged is not about the topic of warfare. Instead, it examines relations between China and the United States and related military policies, and can be described with the headings United States—Military policy; China—Military policy; United States—Foreign relations—China; China—Foreign relations—United States; United States—Foreign relations—1989- ; and China—Foreign relations—1976-. SHM H 202 Background states that information regarding the cataloger’s choice of terminology for the heading should be included in the citation of the work being cataloged. GENRE/FORM TERMS
Errata
Errata are rarely cataloged separately, and it does not seem useful to assign a genre/form term for corrections that are tipped into the work with which they are to be used. In addition, the meeting found it difficult to imagine a user approaching the reference desk or searching the library catalog to find all errata in the library regardless of whether those errata are separately cataloged. The proposal was not approved.
