If the two languages are not the same, a proposal for Ntcham language should be submitted. The classification proposal may be resubmitted along with a proposal for a new or revised subject heading.

The Moghal people group is located in Southeast Asia, but this number would place the group in Asia in general. The current list contains a dozen or more changes to headings that differentiate the Mogul Empire from the Moghal people. As a result, a substitute classification proposal, DS523.4.M63, was submitted as a replacement for the current proposal. The proposal for DS24.5 was not approved.

Is this the same dance as Ballos (Dance), a dance of Greece and Cyprus, which is a UF on Syrtos (Dance)? If the dances are indeed the same dance, it appears that Ballos (Dance) should be removed from Syrtos (Dance) and established separately, and a revision of the heading Syrtos (Dance) should be submitted. If the Ballos (Dance) and Balos dance are not the same, evidence of that should be provided in the proposal, which may be resubmitted.

Birmingham Terminal Station (Birmingham, Ala.)
The information provided in the source citation (670 field) identifies the station as a “terminal station” but does not state that it is a railroad station, therefore, the BT is not supported. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Buchères Massacre, 1944
The 670s seem to indicate that this massacre occurred in the town of Buchères. If that is the case, then it should be reflected in the heading, per H 1592. The town of Buchères is is not yet established in the NAF. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Chateau de la Madeleine (Chevreuse Valley, France)
First, the cataloger should provide information from the work cat. in English, so that the proposal can be evaluated. Second, the work cat citation appears to give two different forms of name, so additional research to determine the most common form of name should be performed. Third, a building is never qualified by a geographic feature. It should be qualified by the town or the country in which it is located. Fourth, is this really a castle, which is intended for defensive purposes? Chateau literally translates to castle, but the BT could be Castles, Palaces, or Dwellings, depending on how the building is/was used. The proposal may be resubmitted with revisions and including additional information provided to clarify these issues.
College students’ writings, Bosnian; … Bulgarian; … Croatian; … Serbian
These proposals are all for the same work, which is a literary magazine for Balkan studies. None of the proposals include a citation that is specific to the language being proposed. These proposals originally appeared on List 1701. The Summary for that list requested that the educational level of the students be clearly stated, which was accomplished on these proposals. As the proposals were being reviewed for the second time, the meeting suggested that a better heading would be College students’ writings, Balkan, particularly since the work is a serial, and a broader heading is often a better idea. None of these proposals were necessary in that case, and a replacement proposal for College students’ writings, Balkan could be provided and approved. However, if the cataloger wants the individual language headings, the proposals could resubmitted again, this time including in the citations the languages represented.
Communalism and mass media; Riots and mass media
[topic] and [topic] headings are for reciprocal relationships at a high level, per H 310. However, the work being cataloged is not about the reciprocal relationship. Instead, the headings for the resource should be: Riots—Press coverage and Terrorism—Press coverage. The proposals were not necessary.
Cồn Cỏ Island (Vietnam)
GeoNet indicates that the island is coextensive with a jurisdiction of the same name. If that is the case, a NAR should be created for the jurisdiction instead. If not, the proposal for the island may be resubmitted.
Dady family
Information from the work cat should be provided about the ethnicity, nationality, or location of the family. It is not sufficient to provide the ethnicity or nationality of the family name from a reference source such as the Dictionary of American Family Names. Providing the information from the work cat is a way to record the nationality, etc., of the family so future decisions about whether a variant is appropriate, whether the variation is the result of immigration, etc., is clear. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Dalu (South Asian people)

Euonychophora; Peripatidae; Peripatus; Udeonychophora
The classification number that is in the 053 on each of these proposals represents Onychophora, which is the phylum of velvet worms. These proposals represent lower taxonomic levels of the phylum. The classification schedule in this area should be expanded to include the systematic divisions to accommodate these taxons under QL448. The proposals may be resubmitted along with an expansion of the classification schedule.
Exhibition design
The proposal sought to change standard LCSH practice of using the authorized free-floating subdivision, --Design under the heading Exhibitions, in favor of establishing the direct phrase. No compelling reason was provided to make this change, and the meeting chose to follow well-established LCSH policy. The proposal was not approved.

Miju-Mishmi (Indic people)
The classification number in the 053 should be proposed. Ethnologue was cited, but none of the variant names found there are included in the proposal. Ethnologue also indicates that the Miju-Mishmi people are in China as well as India. There is also an entry on Joshua Project, which could be cited in addition to, or instead of, Ethnologue. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Nakba, Palestine, 1948
Nabka refers to the 1948 expulsion of Palestinian Arabs from British Mandate Palestine (today’s Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Jordan). The existing heading Population transfers—Palestinian Arabs is synonymous, or nearly synonymous, in meaning to the heading being proposed; it should be assigned to the work being cataloged. The proposal was not approved.

Rocky Mountain Front (Mont. and Alta.)
The Rocky Mountain Front is the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains, which extends from New Mexico into British Columbia. The “front” is merely the edge of the mountains, and the meeting was reluctant to establish a separate heading for it, particularly if the heading represents only the part of the front that is in Alberta and Montana. Rocky Mountain Front will be added as a UF on Rocky Mountains. This is an analogous situation to the heading Allegheny Mountains, which has a UF Allegheny Front. The proposal was not approved.

The taxon for the family Charinidae, which should be a BT on the proposal for Charina, has not been established in LCSH. A proposal for the family should be resubmitted along with the proposals for Rubber boa and Charina.

H 1334 says to qualify a bridge by the local place with which it is most closely associated, or if the structure is associated equally with two places, use both. The citations should indicate which places are connected and qualify the proposed heading appropriately. Also, the source citations only support use of the term “crossing,” but a crossing is not necessarily a bridge. Information supporting the BTs should be provided. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Sēnaikkudaiyān
The reference source cited is from 1975 and conflicts with the up-to-date information in Joshua Project. The list of Notified Scheduled Tribes that is available on the website of the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India also does not agree with the 1975 reference source. Televised contests
According to citations provided, the work being cataloged is a televised singing competition, but the proposed term was also intended to cover everything from televised hot-dog-eating contests to televised marching band competitions. LCGFT already includes several terms for specific types of contests: Beauty contest television programs; Reality television programs; Television game shows; and Television quiz shows. Approving the proposal as presented clearly would have led to unevenness in the treatment of televised competitions of various types. The meeting did not wish to add another level of hierarchy by making Televised contests a BT of the existing terms, either.
The proposed term was revised to Talent shows (Television programs), which should be assigned to the work being cataloged. It may also be assigned to any other type of talent show (e.g., dancing, juggling) and to shows whose competitors display various talents (e.g., Star Search).
