Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.

Subject Headings

Americans

This proposal was to add references from American expatriates, and variations thereof, to the heading Americans. The meeting feels that since any nationality could have this type of reference added, it would be better to make a general see reference that includes instructions for multiple headings. Therefore, a general see reference will be established for American, [Chinese, French, etc.] expatriates use headings of the type Americans--[name of foreign country]; Chinese--[name of foreign country]; French--[name of foreign country]; etc. The proposal to add references from American expatriates, etc. to Americans was not approved.

Bet Sereni (Givat Brener, Israel)

The name of this building is the same as the name of the institute that it houses, therefore a heading for the institute should be established in the name authority file (see instructions in Subject Headings Manual, H 1334, Background statement). The proposal was not approved.

Go-Go (Music)

This proposal, to add the BT Rhythm and blues music to the heading Go-Go (Music) was not supported in reference sources. The proposal was not approved.

Griffin Region (Thurston County, Wash.)

This region is comprised of the Griffin School District and a community association, which operates within the borders of the school district. The meeting feels that a heading for the school district would be sufficient, and may be established in the name authority file if desired. The proposal to establish the region as a subject heading was not approved.

Motion pictures and vision disorders

The work being cataloged appears to be about color blindness as it relates to watching films, not about the reciprocal relationship between motion pictures and vision disorders. The meeting feels that the work is adequately cataloged without this heading. The proposal was not necessary.

Fort William Historical Park (Thunder Bay, Ont.)

This proposal was made to change the heading Old Fort William (Thunder Bay, Ont.) to Fort William Historical Park (Thunder Bay, Ont.). The area covered by the park appears larger than the area of the fort. Also, the fort has a long history, and books about the history of the fort should not be cataloged using the name of the park. Therefore, the heading Old Fort William (Thunder Bay, Ont.) will be retained and an additional heading for the park may be proposed. The proposal was not approved.

Orthodox Eastern church buildingsVandalism

The meeting feels that the it would be better to post-coordinate the existing heading Church buildings --Vandalism with existing headings for [name of denomination] buildings, rather than establishing headings for buildings of each individual denomination subdivided by --Vandalism. The proposal was not approved.

Segundo Barrio (El Paso, Tex.)

Segundo Barrio is a city section, and as such should be established in the name authority file (see instructions in SHM, H 720). The proposal was not approved.
