Subject Headings

Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:

H 1180, Plants and crops

$x Virus diseases (May Subd Geog)
$x Viruses (May Subd Geog)

H 1995, Land vehicles

$x Fuel tanks
$x Motors $x Thermodynamics (May Subd Geog)

Other decisions:

African American successful people

Although the general heading Successful people has been established and my be assigned to general works on the topic and to collective biographies, the meeting feels that the term is too vague and subjective to be assigned to individual biographies. For the same reason, it does not seem desirable to establish additional headings of this type qualified by specific ethnic groups. The proposal was not approved.

Cape Arundel Summer Colony Historic District (Me.)

This historic district is in the city of Kennebunkport, Maine. It should be treated as a city section and be established as a name heading (see the Subject Headings Manual, H 720, Background statement). The proposal to establish it as a subject heading was not approved.

Chudotvornaia Feodorovskaia Bozhiei Materi (Icon)

As an individual art work, this heading should be established as a uniform title in the name authority file. The proposal to establish it as a subject heading was not approved.

Indians of North America--Government relations

The proposed UF references are not necessary because they are covered by existing UF references at a higher level on the headings Indians of North America and Indians of North America--Government relations. The proposals were not approved.

Zhanaturmys (Kazakhstan)

This is a populated place and should be established as a name heading. The proposal to establish it as a subject heading was not approved.
