Classification

Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.

Subject Headings

Abuse of administrative power in war

There is no precedent for establishing headings in the form [Abstract concept] in war. Instead, the heading for the abstract concept is assigned and is postcoordinated with the heading for the war, or an appropriate military history or military science heading. The work being cataloged can be analyzed by assigning Abuse of administrative power, War on Terrorism, 2001-, War and emergency powers, or similar headings. The proposal was not approved.

Government and civil society

Works similar to the one being cataloged have been assigned headings such as Civil society and State, The, and that treatment seems sufficient. The proposal was not approved.

Kota Batu (Extinct city)

Kota Batu still exists, according to the Columbia Gazetteer of the World. As such it should be treated as a geographic name under descriptive cataloging rules. If an archaeological site within the city needs to be established, it may be proposed according to the guidelines in SCM H 1225.

Lenin, Vladimir Ilʹich, 1870-1924--Sisters

A person's family relationships are brought out by the addition of the subdivision --Family to the name heading for the person. The meeting does not consider it useful to bring out relationships between individuals and parts of their families, such as sisters and brothers. The proposal was not approved.

Oskarshanmsverket Region (Sweden); Forsmarks kränkraftverg Region (Sweden)

The proposals for these regions are based on the names of nuclear power plants. Regions may be based on the names of corporate bodies, but only if the bodies are geographic in nature or extent (see SCM H 760, sec. 5). The proposals were not approved.
