Subject Headings

Aging in photography

The work being cataloged is a collection of pictures showing how a group of sisters has aged over the decades, for which the heading Aging--Pictorial works is appropriate. The proposal was not approved.

Hasslö (Sweden : Island)

Hasslö is a jurisdictional island in Sweden, and should be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.

Non-digital photography

The work being cataloged is a general history of photography, for which the established heading Photography is appropriate. While digital photography is superceding film photography in popularity, the process is not complete. The preference of the meeting is to wait to establish the retronym until such time as digital photography is the standard. The proposal was not approved.

Oriskany Valley (N.Y.)

In cases where a heading for a river valley is being proposed but the river is not yet in LCSH, the heading for the river should be established at the same time, according to SCH H 800. The Oriskany River has not yet been established. The proposal for the Oriskany Valley may be resubmitted along with an additional proposal for the river.

Pigs in art

The heading Swine in art already exists for this concept. The proposal was not approved.

State power

The idea of power is implicit in the concept of the state, and the heading State, The should be assigned to the work being cataloged. The proposal was not approved.

Tununuk (N.W.T.)

Tununuk is a populated place and should be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.
