Subject Headings

Centrum Mine (Most, Czech Republic)

According to material available on the Web, this mine appears to be located in the town of Dolní Jiřetín, which is in the Most district of the Czech Republic. If it can be confirmed that the mine is within the limits of Dolní Jiřetín, that town should be established as a name heading so that it can be used as the qualifier for the mine, in accordance with the rule for qualifying man-made geographic structures located in cities (see the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 810, sec. 2.c.(2)). If the mine is located outside the limits of the town, the qualifier should be (Czech Republic) alone, as there does not appear to be any need to break a conflict with another mine of the same name in the Czech Republic. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Piastów 75 (Group of artists)

The Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 405, states that artists' groups that are self-identified by a particular name and function as a business firm in creating, publishing, promoting, and marketing their works are established as corporate entities according to descriptive cataloging conventions. That appears to be the case in this instance, as evidenced by the fact that this group has its own gallery and Web site. A name authority record should be created for the group; the proposal to establish it as a subject heading was not approved.
