Classification
Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.
Subject Headings
Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:
H 1154, Languages
$v Conversation and phrase books (for homeowners)
Other decisions:
Architecture--Spain--American influences
This proposal is not necessary. According to instruction sheet H 1675 in the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, if a specific [...] influences has been established under a heading, that same subdivision may be used under the heading with geographic subdivision interposed without creating a new authority record. The heading Architecture--American influences already exists.
Jérriais language
The language reference sources on which we generally rely treat Jérriais as a dialect of French. While dialects that have specific names may be established as subject headings, the usual practice for dialects that have names based on place names is to assign headings of the type [...] language--Dialects--[place]. Therefore this proposal for "Jérriais language" was not approved. The heading French language--Dialects--Channel Islands--Jersey should be assigned instead.
Mugie Moss Paper Works (Aberdeen, Scotland)
Paper mills are a type of factory. According to instruction sheet H 405, individual factories should be established as name headings. The fact that this facility closed in 2005 does not affect its status as a potential name heading.
