Present from CPSO: E. Rinn, J. Young, M. Wewerka, P. Frank

Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.

Subject Headings

In the mid-1980s the subdivisions --Addresses, essays, lectures and --Collected works were discontinued because they were not determined to be sufficiently useful. In adherence to that view, the proposal for this analogous subdivision was not approved.

Vagrancy--Law and legislation

As defined in its scope note, the heading Vagrancy represents a criminal offense; it is therefore an inherently legal heading. The subdivision --Law and legislation is not added to inherently legal topics, so this proposal was not approved.

Camp Powers (Augusta, Me.)

Camp Powers still exists under the name Fort Keys. According to SCM H 405, active installations as well as all installations that existed after 1899 are to be established under descriptive cataloging rules in the Name Authority File. This proposal was not approved.

Folk theater

The only source cited was the work cataloged. In addition, there are many types of folk theater already established in LCSH with the broader term Theater--[place]. More research needs to be done to support the form chosen for the heading, and to determine which of the theatrical traditions already in LCSH should have Folk theater--[place] as the broader term. The proposal may be resubmitted, along with any related proposals.

Older Métis

Headings of this type refer to the older people of individual classes of persons and ethnic groups. The work cataloged discusses Métis elders in the sense of tribal elders, those with experience and wisdom. Elders in this sense does not imply age. The proposal is not appropriate to the work being cataloged and was not approved.

Rare books--Owners' marks

Within LCSH the pattern has been to establish subdivisions under Books, not under Rare books. Since owners' marks are not unique to rare books and the heading Books--Owners' marks exists, this proposal is not necessary. It was not approved.

Saint Joseph River Watershed (Mich. and Ind.)

References for variant forms of the river's name are provided on the heading for the river, but not on headings for their associated watersheds, valleys, etc. Since this proposal was made only to add such references, it is not necessary. The proposal was not approved.

SCA statistical systems

SCA Statistical System appears to be a named software package and should be established as a title heading, according to SCM H 405. The proposal was not approved.
