H 1103, Ethnic groups

$x Tribal citizenship (May Subd Geog)

H 1110, Indiv pers

Other decisions:

African American hobo songs

There is currently no precedent in LCSH for combining the name of an ethnic group with a heading for a minor genre of songs. The meeting did not wish to set such a precedent by approving this proposed heading. Two headings should be assigned instead: Hobo songs and African Americans--Music. The proposal was not approved.

Fort Ward (Wash.: Fort)

Military installations created after 1899 are established as name headings. This fort existed during the period 1903-1958. The proposal to establish it as a subject heading was not approved.

Slave traders

The heading Businesspeople is not intended to encompass a group of people such as slave traders. The proposal to change the BT was not approved.

Tashkent (Uzbekistan)--History--Uprising, 1892

This uprising is commonly referred to by a more specific name, the Tashkent Cholera Riot. A proposal may be resubmitted to establish that riot as a named event, following the provisions of the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 1592.

Yelang (Kingdom)

Kingdoms, including ancient kingdoms, are treated as jurisdictions and established as name headings. The proposal to establish this kingdom as a subject heading was not approved.
