Subject Headings
Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:
H 1154, Languages
$x Globalization
Other decisions:
Development officers (Fund raisers)
It is unclear what the relationship is between the proposed heading and the existing heading Fund raisers (Persons). If the proposed heading represents alternative terminology that is used in a specific field or context, then a UF reference should be added to the existing heading. If the proposal represents a specific sub-category of fund raisers then the existing heading would be used as a BT reference. The proposal may be resubmitted after further research to resolve these issues.
Pinkullu
Instructions in the Subject Cataloging Manual, instruction sheet H 1918, provide that proposals for musical instruments should be accompanied by a proposal for the music of the instrument. The required accompanying proposal is lacking. The proposal for the instrument may be resubmitted with a proposal for the music of the instrument.
Schlossplatz Eins (Berlin, Germany : Building)
This building is already established as Schlossplatz 1 (Berlin, Germany). The proposal was not approved.
Spectacular, The, in architecture
This proposal with its references mixes two distinct concepts. A heading for Spectacular, The, in architecture would represent theoretical works on the concept of the spectacular in architecture. The references Attraction architecture and Destination architecture represent a specific type of architecture. Neither of these concepts would necessarily apply to a work that simply discusses "spectacular buildings". A proposal may be resubmitted, if necessary, according to the contents of the work being cataloged.
Waimea Bay (Kauai County, Hawaii)
Instructions in the Subject Cataloging Manual, instruction sheet H 975, provide that the name of the Hawaiian island shall be used in cases of conflicts for geographic features in the state of Hawaii. The proposed change to the existing qualifer (Kauai, Hawaii) is not appropriate. The proposal was not approved.
