Current encyclopedias do not support the proposals to limit the use of the headings Hamites and Cushites to ancient peoples. The proposed revisions were not approved.
Homophobia in high schoools; Homophobia in higher education; Homophobia in schools
The standard practice for broader-term references for headings constructed with prepositional phrases is to provide a reference from the heading that corresponds to the term following the preposition. The practice is explained in Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, instruction sheet H 370.sec. 1.e.(3)(a.). Since the existing authority records conform to the approved practice, the proposlas to change the references were not approved.
