Body mass index
This heading was proposed and approved on weekly list 06/03. At the editorial meeting for that list, the proposed RT Anthropometry was changed to a BT because body mass index is a type of measurement, and Anthropometry is the broader heading that is used for human body measurements. Also at that meeting, the proposed RT Physical fitness was deleted because there does not seem to be a sufficiently unique or strong relationship between these two topics to warrant linking them as related terms. The proposal on this week's list is to reinstate the two deleted RTs and to delete the BT. The proposal was not approved. Catalogers from cooperating libraries who question or do not understand changes that were made to their proposals at an editorial meeting are encouraged to consult with their Coop liaison for further explanatory information rather than submitting proposals to undo those changes.
General Strike, Seattle, Wash., 1919
There is a clear pattern in LCSH of establishing headings for general strikes in the standard form, General Strike, [place], [date], as evidenced by the existence of more than sixty such headings. The proposal to reformulate this one heading to the non-standard form Seattle General Strike, Seattle, Washington, 1919 was therefore not approved.
Indians of North America--Criminal justice system
On weekly list 93/51, this heading was cancelled in favor of the two existing headings Indians of North America--Legal status, laws, etc. and Criminal justice, Administration of--[place]. The proposal to re-establish it is not approved.
Jumping
The proposed BT Animal locomotion is appropriate to the specific heading Animal jumping, not to this general heading for jumping. The addition of this BT was not approved.
Von Willebrand factor; Blood coagulation factor VIII
The meeting did not approve this proposal to cancel the existing heading Blood coagulation factor VIII and add it as a UF on Von Willebrand factor. It is justified to retain both headings because they are separate but related proteins. In the circulating blood, factor VIII binds with Von Willebrand factor to form a complex, and Von Willebrand factor is also known as factor VIII-related antigen. References for the two headings were revised on this list, and appropriate 670 fields with explanatory information have been added to the two authority records.
