Concerts from the Library of Congress continues its 85th anniversary concert season with a spring calendar showcasing a dynamic and diverse range of American music. Top chamber music groups include the Salzburg Hyperion Ensemble, the Schumann Trio and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, which brings a fascinating double bill of music by Tan Dun and George Crumb and a special pre-concert interview with Crumb.

New music, jazz and cross-genre projects are featured throughout the spring season, offering a look at a rich mix of compositional styles. In May, a new music mini-festival centers on the world premiere performances of Library of Congress commissions by Sebastian Currier and Stephen Hartke, who will give pre-concert talks before each event. Artists and groups for the mini-festival are the NOW Ensemble, Victoire, the Wordless Music Orchestra with guitarist-composer Tyondai Braxton, violinist Colin Jacobsen and pianist Bruce Levingston, and eighth blackbird. Also on the spring roster is a trio of concerts by major jazz figures Martial Solal, Brad Mehldau, Eddie Daniels and Roger Kellaway.

The Library joins with the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in three concerts drawn from its archives. New dates for this three-part series are April 9, the music of Aaron Copland; May 5, Ellington, Mingus and Mulligan; and May 21 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, roots of the American songbook.

The Paolo Pandolfo/Thomas Boysen concert on Saturday, Feb. 26 has been changed to a 2 p.m. matinee with no pre-concert presentation.

The Library’s concert series is presented free of charge to the public but requires tickets for admission. Tickets are distributed by TicketMaster at (202) 397-7328, (410) 547-7328 and (703) 573-7328. Each ticket carries a nominal service charge of $2.80, with additional charges for phone orders and handling. Tickets are also available at TicketMaster outlets and online at www.TicketMaster.com External.

Although the supply of tickets may be exhausted, there are often empty seats at concert time. Interested patrons are encouraged to come to the Library by 6:30 p.m. on concert nights to wait in the standby line for no-show tickets. Tickets for events at the Atlas Performing Arts Center carry a $1 service charge and will be available through the Atlas Box Office, 202-399-7993.
