Marie Savard To Talk on Women's Body Shape on July 13

Marie Savard, a physician and women’s health expert, will talk about her new book, "Apples & Pears: The Body Shape Solution for Weight Loss and Wellness," at the Library of Congress from 10:30 to noon on Wednesday, July 13, in the Mumford Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C.

Co-sponsored by the Science, Technology & Business Division and Health Services, the event is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the lecture.In "Apples & Pears," Savard discusses what body shape means, how it is formed, how it changes and how it relates to health. Savard also offers women of all shapes and sizes specific nutritional and exercise recommendations.

She is the author of two previous books: "How to Save Your Own Life" and "The Savard Health Record." An internist who received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Savard speaks frequently on women’s health and patient empowerment issues. She has appeared on "The Today Show" and in many newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Ladies Home Journal, Self and Prevention.

Savard currently serves as senior medical director of the Cabrini Nursing Home for missionary nuns and is the senior medical adviser to Lifetime television’s "Strong Medicine." She is a member of the board of trustees for the University of Pennsylvania.
