Mystery Author John Dunning to Appear at the Library of Congress
Mystery writer and radio historian John Dunning will discuss vintage radio and his new novel, Two O'Clock Eastern Wartime, on Friday, January 26, at 6 p.m. in the Mumford Room, sixth floor, James Madison Memorial Building, 101 Independence Ave. SE. (Capitol South Metro). The event, sponsored by the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division, will include selections from the Library's collection of classic radio recordings. The event is free and open to the public.
A former antiquarian bookseller, Mr. Dunning's award-winning earlier works, Booked to Die (1992) and The Bookman's Wake (1995), were set in the book trade. He is also the author of On the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio and the former longtime host of the weekly Denver radio show "Old Time Radio." He has combined his interests in his latest mystery, where romance and murder are set against a backdrop of a New Jersey radio station during World War II.
