March 20, 1997 Secretary of Education to Join Library of Congress Literacy Event

At 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, Tara Holland, Miss America, will be at the Library of Congress in the Mumford Room for a number of events. She will open an exhibition of 26 photographs from the book Library: The Drama Within, unveil a new reading poster produced by Jim Henson Productions, draw the name of the National winner for a children's "reading challenge" sponsored by Reading is Fundamental, and announce a national reading promotion campaign sponsored by the Center for the Book.

At 10:30 a.m., she will be joined by U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley in an appearance on behalf of the National Institute for Literacy's "Literacy: It's A Whole New World" campaign.
