March 7, 1997 New Audio Preservation System To Be Demonstrated

The Library of Congress will present a demonstration of a new state-of-the-art system for preserving and restoring its historic sound recordings on Thursday, March 13, at 3:30 p.m. in room LM119 of the Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E.

The system provides the highest quality playback, monitoring, and recording capability for preserving the nearly 3 million audio recordings in the Library's collections, in both digital and analog form. Unusual and historic recordings will be played to demonstrate the capabilities of the new system.
