Library of Congress Publishes Free-Floating Subdivisions: An Alphabetical Index, 8th Edition

Free-Floating Subdivisions: An Alphabetical Index, 8th edition, is now available from the Cataloging Distribution Service of the Library of Congress. This latest edition of the publication is up to date through December 1995. The eighth edition should be used as an index to the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings (SCM: SH) by those who wish to assign and retrieve free-floating subdivisions.

The index is a consolidated alphabetical listing of all free-floating subdivisions that appear in H 1095 - H 1200 in the current edition of Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings (SCM: SH) as well as newly approved subdivisions not yet published in the manual. The free-floating subdivisions appear in 35 separate lists in the SCM: SH. For each subdivision, the index provides a listing, identified by category, of the free-floating lists in the manual where it appears. Using Free-Floating Subdivisions: An Alphabetical Index, 8th edition, in conjunction with Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings keeps users up to date in the latest in LC subject cataloging.

Free-Floating Subdivisions: An Alphabetical Listing, 8th edition, sells for $25 (North America) and $30 (outside North America). ISSN: 1052-1445. 178 pages.
