Conference on Digital Revolution in Cartography Scheduled at the Library of Congress

WHAT: Two-day conference on "The Map Library in Transition" to explore the ways in which the digital revolution in cartography and geography are changing the nature of map libraries and the services they provide.

WHEN: Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 18 and 19, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: Mumford Room, 6th floor, James Madison Memorial Building, 101 Independence Avenue, S.E.

The two-day program, developed by Gary Fitzpatrick, Geographic Information Systems Specialist, Geography and Map Division, Library of Congress, and Chris Barruth, AGS Collection, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, is structured to provide ample opportunity for participants to discuss the issues now facing map librarians. Presentations will be given on major initiatives now underway, and keynote speakers will focus on major themes in digital cartography and geography. The registration fee for the conference is $30 (this does not apply to media covering the conference). A copy of the full program follows.
