Visual materials from the Victor Gruen Papers include drawings and photographs by Gruen and others. Gruen dedicated to the public rights that he held to materials in his papers, but some materials may be restricted by copyright. Privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
Access: Subject to P&P policy on serving originals.
Unprocessed materials are served by advance arrangement (see: "Access to Unprocessed Materials" - http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/info/022_unpr.html). Some materials may be too fragile to serve.
Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication
and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying. This policy prohibits placing some materials on a photocopy machine.
Publication and other forms of distribution: Users should be aware of various situations that potentially affect the rights status of the materials; users must
perform their own assessment of the risk of using particular images:
- Photos and drawings of European architects' works: May be restricted by copyright. In Europe, the architect often controls the rights to representations of the work. This may apply particularly to Gruen's notebooks of European work. Privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
- Drawings and photographs by Victor Gruen or his firm for Gruen’s own works: No known copyright restrictions. Copyright in the works by Victor Gruen in the custody of the Library of Congress has been dedicated to the public. Privacy and publicity rights may apply.
- Materials by other creators: May be restricted by copyright. Privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
