This subject index presents the categories that the OWI and, later, the Library of Congress used to make it possible to browse the FSA/OWI photographs by what they depict. The agency used a decimal number classification scheme. This section of the subject index provides access to segments of the classification number listing, which in turn, reproduce the order in which the original photographic prints are filed: by classification number.
