Finland and the Finns.
A Selective Bibliography

Elemer Bako
Former Finno-Ugrian Area Specialist Image of original cover of Finland and the Finns

This highly selective, illustrated bibliography, originally published in 1993, was the result of many years of research covering all aspects of life in Finland. It reflects the success of the longstanding international acquisitions programs at the Library.

The publications listed in this work are not limited to those issued by Finns or in Finland; it contains many publications by American, Scandinavian and other non-Finnish students of Nordic history, culture and politics.

The bibliography contains 1,005 entries, a personal name index, a topical guide to the contents of the chapters, as well as a list of abbreviations and acronyms. All items cited in the bibliography are available in the collections of the Library of Congress, which currently contain more than 100,000 Finnish-language items.

Finland and the Finns is also linked to the corresponding entry in the Library of Congress online catalog. The digitized versions presented here may be viewed via "page view" display or searchable .pdf

Of related interest, and also digitized, is the author's bibliography Elias Lönnrot and his Kalevala.
