The Country Data section includes numerous resources that provide individual country and regional data, country profiles, economic and financial statistics information, and other useful information such as country and regional news, and important information covering country political and economic policies and conditions. This section utilizes a number of different resources drawing from government, news media, academic, non-government institutional, and commercial sources.

Asian Development Bank Regions and Countries. External Link

In addition to the many links and resources available on the Asian Development Bank (ADB) homepage, ADB also provides regional and member country data, as well as country economic and statistical information.

BBC News Country Profiles. External Link

Provides country and regional information, which consists of an overview, facts and figures, information on leadership and the media. This web site also includes video and audio as well as links to daily news.

Countries of the World, Learning External Link

The Countries of the World homepage provides important country information which consist of: Country Facts, Population and Statistics, Government, Economics, Travel, and Climate information. Cultural and language information and resources are also available from this web site.

Eldis Country Profiles includes country profile information, country news, statistics, as well as organizational and sectorial information. The web site also provides access to resources guides and other useful web links.

Europa - European Union Online. External Link

The European Union web site includes links to country member information, news, EU functions and activities, EU institutional information, and other important information resources and publications.

The Global Risks Report. World Economic Forum.

“…features perspectives from nearly 750 experts on the perceived impact and likelihood of 29 prevalent global risks over a 10-year timeframe. The risks are divided into five categories: economic, environmental, geopolitical, societal and technological.”

International Monetary Fund (IMF), Country Information. External Link

The IMF's Country Information web page provides country data and reports on all IMF member countries. Country financial analysis and current exchange rate information are also provided on this web page.

Library of Congress - Federal Research Division, Country Studies.

The Country Studies Series presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world. The Country Studies carefully examine the interrelationships of these systems and important cultural factors within individual countries. Presently, 101 countries and regions are covered on this web site.

OECD, Member Countries External Link

Includes information on the 30 Member countries of the OECD and provides links to all OECD documents pertaining to each member country. Documents include annual reports, case studies, country surveys/reviews/guides, projections, forecasts and outlooks, country statistics, data and indicators, policy briefs, working papers, as well as many other important publications and information resources.

Publisher's description: "The Trade Profiles provide standard information on the structural trade situation and trade policy measures of members, observers and other selected economies. The profiles are complemented with general macroeconomic indicators. Data are currently provided for over 180 economies and coverage will be gradually extended as information becomes available."

United Nations, Member States - Permanent Missions to the United Nations. External Link

The United Nations, Member States/Permanent Missions homepage provides country links and information to all permanent member nations to the United Nations. The UN links provide access to country information, news, reports, and other useful information resources.

U.S. Department of State.

The U.S. Department of State's Countries and Regions, and Country Commercial Guides serve as key information sources on country and regional reports, economic policy and trade practices. The Country Commercial Guides contain information on the business and economic situation of foreign countries and the political climate as it affects U.S. business. The Country Commercial Guides also include topics such as marketing, trade regulations, investment climate, and business travel.

World Bank, Countries & Regions. External Link

The World Bank's Country & Region homepage includes country data, country briefs, country reports, and news on all member countries. Also provides links to country development projects, publication abstracts, and other World Bank reports. External Link

Features include country and regional profiles, geographical data, demographic and economic data, political data and graphic maps. Other features consist of currency conversion rates, and country and regional news.

World Fact Book. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

An annual summary and update of country profiles with brief descriptions on the current status, geography, population, government, economy, communications and transportation infrastructures, military and foreign relations of individual countries.

World Trade Organization (WTO) External Link

The WTO publishes free and for purchase publications on a variety of publications including: World Tariff Profiles, the annual Trade Profiles, Service Profiles, International Trade Statistics, the annual World Trade Report, Global Value Chains in a Changing World, Dispute Settlement Reports, etc. Many can be found through the WTO shop. Access to these subscription databases is limited to patrons who are on site at the Library of Congress. They may also be available to you through other subscribers such as your local public or university libraries.

Access China (Economist Intelligence Unit)

Provides geo-political analysis and economic forecasts, along with historical data, for every one of China's 31 provinces and annual reports for each of China's 40 most important prefectures.

Country Reports. Business Source Complete. (EBSCO)

This database includes various country reports, economic surveys and risk reports by country from publishers such as Country Watch Inc., IHS Inc., PRS Group, MarketLine, Business Monitor International, OECD, and U.S. Dept. of State.

CIAO Columbia International Affairs Online)

Contains theory and research on policy issues and current events in international affairs; working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences.

EIU CityData (Economist Intelligence Unit)

"EIU CityData is a market-leading database of global pricing information. EIU CityData contains price data on over 160 products and services in 140 cities worldwide from 1990 to the present. Prices range from the average electricity bill of a local family to the cost of office and industrial rents in cities worldwide."--Publisher's description.

EIU Country Data (Economist Intelligence Unit)

"A database of annual, quarterly and monthly economic indicators and forecasts. Allows access to up to 320 series per country on 201 countries and 45 regional aggregates. Historical and forecast data are updated monthly and include historical data ranging from 1980 and forecast horizons to 2030. Provides comprehensive annual data forecasts and quarterly forecasts for economies covering 75% of global output. Major data categories include economic structure, foreign payments, external debt stock, external debt service, external trade, trends in foreign trade. --Publisher's description.

EIU Country Reports (Economist Intelligence Unit)

"Provides in-depth and ongoing analysis and forecasts of political, policy, business, and economic conditions of 197 countries. Includes monthly reports for 95 countries and quarterly reports for 102 countries. Forecast conditions are updated with frequent articles published between reports on recent events that may impact on the regular EIU forecast outlooks. Also includes the EIU Country Profiles which ceased publication in 2008."--Publisher's description.

International Country Risk Guide (PRS Group)

Provides assessment of political, financial, and economic risk for 140 developed, emerging, and frontier markets. Each report contains 27 statistical tables detailing past and future trends for GDP growth, inflation, the fiscal and current accounts, external debt, debt servicing, liquidity, and exchange rate stability.

OECD iLibrary

"OECD iLibrary is the gateway to OECD's analysis and data. Contains all the publications and datasets released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, International Energy Agency (IEA), Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), OECD Development Centre, PISA (Programme for International Student Assessement), and International Transport Forum (ITF) since 1998. Arranged under 19 thematic areas covering issues in agriculture and food, development, economics, education, employment, energy, environment, finance and investment, governance, industry and services, nuclear energy, science and technology, social issues, taxation, trade, transport, and urban, rural and regional development. OxResearch (ProQuest)

Provides extensive coverage for more than 30,000 articles on world and regional economic and political developments of major significance with information on over 180 countries.

PAIS International (ProQuest)

"Provides citations to over 3,600 journal articles, books, hearings, reports, gray literature, government publications, Internet resources, and other publications from over 120 countries. Retrospective material dates from the early twentieth century through the mid-1970s. Includes coverage of publications in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish with English language abstracts and subject headings that deal with public affairs. Sage Business Researcher

Provides thorough coverage of various business and management topics in the form of reports, short articles, data, expert views and videos. One of the sections is on International Business and includes current international business topics and some country specific ones focusing on doing business in that country.

World Service (PRS Group)

"Provides data, analysis and risk ratings of the global business landscape. Includes Country Databanks, Country Forecasts, and Country Reports, revised annually, which forecast the risk of doing business in each of the 100 countries monitored by Political Risk Services. Each report includes comments and analysis on recent events, profiles of key political players, and detailed forecast scenarios, as well as basic historical background and data on the government, political entities, the environment, and the economy."--Publisher's description.
