The African Section and Hebraic Section, African Middle Eastern Division, Library of Congress
presented “An Ethiopian Homecoming.” an illustrated lecture with film clips by  Dera Tompkins.
International Reggae legend, Robert Nesta Marley, would have been 60 years old in 2005. To commemorate his birthday, people from all over the world flocked to Addis Ababa to honor his memory in the land he considered to be “Zion.” Music promoter and founder of Washington’s annual Bob Marley’s birthday celebration, Dera Tompkins, made her first trip to Ethiopia for the momentous occasion, which is documented in the film “Africa Unite.”

The film screening was followed by a Q & A session and open discussion with the producer/director,
