Books downloadable from HTML version of TBT

Books announced in the HTML version of Talking Book Topics (TBT) are now linked to the NLS Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) site, which allows users to download books over the Internet. BARD also provides full-length annotations for all book titles. To use this service, you will need an active BARD membership, access to a computer or mobile device, a high-speed Internet connection, a USB drive or a blank cartridge and USB cable, and an NLS digital player or NLS-authorized commercial player. To register for BARD, contact your local cooperating library.

Two new audio magazines available on cartridge

As part of the ongoing NLS magazine program transition from cassette to cartridge, the Economist and Piano Technicians Journal are now available on cartridge. The Economist is a weekly journal that offers insights and opinions on international news, politics, business, finance, science, and technology. Piano Technicians Journal is a monthly technical magazine covering all areas of piano technology and tuning. Please contact your local network library to update your audio magazine subscription.

By June 30, all NLS audio magazines will be supplied on cartridge. If you do not yet have a digital talking-book player, please contact your local network library about obtaining one. Unlike cassettes, magazine cartridges must be returned to the producer once you have finished reading them.
