(Jul 20, 2009) In the first decision of its kind in Lebanon, a court of first instance recently issued a judgment giving children of a deceased non-Lebanese father the right to acquire their mother's Lebanese citizenship. The public prosecution office, a party to the case brought by the mother, took a neutral position during the trial but has since reversed course and is now appealing the judgment.
