(Mar 12, 2009) On February 5, 2009, the Criminal Chamber of the Appellate Court of Sala, a suburb of Rabat, Morocco, has confirmed the judgment issued on May 1, 2008, by a lower court against Said Al-boujaida, a former Moroccan detainee at Guantanamo, in which he was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. This judgment is considered a precedent in dealing with the trials of Moroccan citizens who are former Guantanamo detainees; all previous detainees were acquitted, either at the trial of first instance level or at the appellate level.
