(Oct 30, 2008) On October 23, 2008, the European Court of First Instance (ECFI) annulled a decision of the European Council, issued in December 2007, to maintain the People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) on the EU terrorist list on the grounds that evidence provided by the United Kingdom for its inclusion on the list was insufficient. However, this judgment of the ECFI does not invalidate another decision of the European Council of July 2008 to keep the PMOI on the list based on newly reported information. The PMOI has filed an appeal against the July 2008 decision. It has been reported that the ECFI will postpone adopting another judgment until a final decision is made by the Council on whether to keep or strike PMOI off the terrorist list.
