Lebanon: Government Justifies Detention of Officers

(May 2, 2008) On April 15, 2008, the Lebanese government asserted that the arrest of four high-ranking military officers in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri is legal under Lebanese and international law. The assertion came in response to criticism of the government by the U.N.
