Israel; Mexico: Tourism Agreement

(Nov. 23, 2011) The Mexican Secretary of Tourism, Gloria Guevara Manzano, and the Ambassador of Israel to Mexico, Rodica Radian Gordon, signed a Tourism Cooperation Agreement on November 3, 2011. The Agreement will establish permanent cooperation in research, promotion, and development. In addition, it is expected to increase tourist flows between the two countries and further the exchange of experiences of best practices for the benefit of both countries' industries.

The Secretary of Tourism indicated that Israel is an important market in terms of visitors to Mexico. From January to September of this year, there was a 6.6% increase in tourist arrivals from Israel compared to the same period last year. The Israeli Ambassador added that from January to September 2011, 16,265 tourists from Israel visited Mexico.

During the signing of the Agreement, it was agreed that communication would be established between the governments and tour operators, with the intention of strengthening the number of visitors from Israel to Mexico.
