(Aug. 29, 2008) Australia is introducing a three-year Seasonal Worker Pilot Program, under which workers from Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and Vanuatumay work for up to seven months a year in the horticulture industry. Under the program, as many as 2,500 visas will be available over a three-year period.
The pilot program will operate in regions with a lack of available labor, and workers are entitled to the same wages and conditions as any other worker in Australia. (Press Release, The Hon.
