AFC 1950/013: Carlos Garcia Collection of Paraguayan Folk Music
One 12-inch disc of one folk song from Paraguay, performed on guitar and harp. Recorded prior to 1950. (AFS 9784) (2 minutes; preservation tape LWO 5111 reel 259B)

AFC 1950/014: Alberto Nogues / Odeon Dubs of Paraguayan Music
Four 10-inch discs recorded on the Odeon label of 8 Paraguayan songs, all performed by an orchestral ensemble, and 1 song with lyrics in Spanish. Recorded prior to 1950. The collection includes a 1-page transcript of lyrics. (AFS 9785-9788) (24 minutes; preservation tape LWO 5111 reel 260A)

AFC 1960/009: Music of Bolivia and Paraguay
Three 7-inch tapes of folk music folk music from the provinces of Aroma, Pacajes, and Saavedra, Bolivia and "El carnaval de Bolivia" recorded by Eduardo Medina, USIS, La Paz, Bolivia; and one tape of popular music, songs, and dance music performed by Maria Teresa Marquez, Juan Carlos Soria and his band, Digno Garcia, Oscar Torales, and Trio Los Paraguayos. The collection includes three pages of content lists in Spanish including instruments played, genres, performers, and titles. Portions of this collection can also be found in AFS 11,884. AFS 11,731: One tape containing 16 traditional and popular songs from Paraguay, in Guaraní and Spanish. (50 minutes; LWO 3152)

AFC 2005/008: Luiz Heitor Corrêa de Azevedo collection on Latin American Folklore
Publications pertaining to Latin American folklore and musical traditions from the library of Luiz Heitor Corrêa de Azevedo, Brazilian folklorist and musicologist. The collection includes monographs, articles, bibliographies, conference proceedings, and other publications about folk music, musical instruments, popular music, dance, folklore, food traditions, proverbs, children's folklore, traditional and folk medicine, local religious celebrations (including Christmas, Epiphany, and Easter) and devotions to various saints, Cuban santeria, Afro-Brazilian traditions, and anthropological studies of indigenous people of Brazil, among other topics. Publications are predomiantly about Brazilian culture but include significant works on folk culture in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela. AFC 2012/028: Mariano Gonzalez Ramirez concert collection
Video recording and photographs of a concert in the Coolidge Auditorium, Library of Congress on September 26, 2012 as part of the Homegrown concert series sponsored by the American Folklife Center. Mariano Gonzalez, a virtuoso harpist and composer born and raised in Buena Vista, Paraguay to a family of harpists and harp makers, is a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. He began playing the harp at the age of five, under the tutelage of his father and grandfather. His passion for music propelled him onto the world stage where he expanded his repertoire to include lively Latin rhythms, free-spirited jazz, and original arrangements of popular standards.
