Hear the composer's unpublished Leaves of Grass settings and along with other American Songs.
A special lecture-recital featuring compositions from Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's American and Italian years, with a focus on his ten-song cycle Leaves of Grass (1936). Drawing on the Library's Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco Collection, the program also includes settings of poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay, with lecturer Aloma Bardi, tenor Salvatore Champagne, and pianist Howard Lubin.
