Adalberto Ríos Szalay
Adalberto Ríos Szalay is a photographer and writer from the Mexican state of Morelos who, for 42 years, has dedicated himself to documenting the biodiversity, pluriculturality, and the cultural patrimony of Mexico and Latin America. He has been a tenured professor in anthropology at UNAM. He has photographed all of the Mexican states as well as 32 countries around the world; he has held exhibits in dozens of countries. His photographs are part of permanent collections in Mexico, USA, Spain, Cuba, Bulgaria and France. His work has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades throughout the world, including UNESCO’s Award for Excellence in Photography, on the occasion of the United Nations’ International Year for Tolerance. He has served as the Director of the Cultural Institute of the Mexican state of Morelos and has been the coordinator of eight cultural institutes throughout Mexico.
