The recipient of multiple Caldecott Honor Medals and Coretta Scott King Awards and Honors, he has taught illustration and conducted workshops at universities across the country, created art for the U.S. Postal Services’ Black Heritage stamps and had more than 20 one-man retrospective shows at major U.S. venues.
