Cathy Scott is an author and veteran journalist who has received more than a dozen awards from news organizations in California and Nevada. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Post, The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Las Vegas Sun, and Reuters News Service and she has appeared on National Public Radio, CNN, Court TV and the BBC. She traveled to New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina and at the request of the Best Friends Animal Society documented the plight of pets displaced by the storm. This experience is recounted in her latest book, Pawprints of Katrina: Pets Saved and Lessons Learned (Wiley, 2008). Currently a staff writer for the Best Friends Animal Society’s magazine and Web site, she lives in Las Vegas and has a second home in San Diego.
