Jeff Shaara is the New York Times best-selling author of several historical novels covering the American Revolution through World War II. His first publication was Gods and Generals, one of two volumes that completed the Civil War trilogy begun by his father, Michael Shaara, with the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic The Killer Angels. His latest novel is The Rising Tide (Ballantine, 2006), the first of a planned World War II trilogy. He is a two-time recipient of the American Library Association’s W. Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction (1997, 2005). After many years spent in New York City and the mountains of Montana, he resides in Tallahassee, Florida, where he grew up and attended college.
