Sharon M. Draper is a professional educator as well as an accomplished writer of stories that teenagers love to read. She has been honored as the National Teacher of the Year and is a popular conference speaker, addressing educational and literary groups both nationally and internationally. She is the recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award for the best-seller Forged by Fire (1998) and a Coretta Scott King Honor for The Battle of Jericho (2004). Her most recent books are Copper Sun (2006) and Ziggy and the Black Dinosaurs: The Space Mission Adventure (2006), both published by Simon and Schuster. Ms. Draper lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.
