Sebastian Junger
Sebastian Junger established himself as a freelance writer contributing to such periodicals as Men's Journal, Outside, American Heritage, and The New York Times Magazine. His first book, A Perfect Storm (Norton, 1997), explored the story of a commercial fishing boat out of Gloucester, Massachusetts caught in a killer storm and became an immediate bestseller and popular film. His investigation of danger continues in Fire (Norton, 2001), a collection of Mr. Junger's nonfiction essays on topics ranging from the war in Afghanistan to the diamond trade in Sierra Leone to firefighters battling blazes in Idaho. Mr. Junger was born in Boston and currently resides in New York City.
